What makes a Lab so special?
Well, let us tell you... Maybe it's their winning personalities or their rough and tumble way of taking on the world. Unlike pointing dogs, who do their things "out there," Labs are right here, underfoot, ready and eager to share. They're right here through the gunning season and the rest of the year, romping in the yard, snoring in the middle of the bed, riding in a truck, or lurking beneath the table at dinnertime.
Labs are there to serve. They can no more change that any more than they can change the color of their coats. It's not what they do, it's what they are. They lead lives of devotion, and would gladly lay it down if the need arose. They can carry an egg in their teeth and never puncture the shell, set it down gently, and then nonchalantly chew their way through a chain-link fence.
Only a Lab will charge into ice cold water at masters command to make a retrieve. They are just as content in the cold as lying by a warm fire at night, as long as their master is there with them. A Lab will stand between its master and the door, daring a stranger to enter. They don't know the meaning of the word "fear" (and usually ignore the word "no"). Labs are well suited to any environment and can adapt just as well to the field as to a warm blanket on a couch.
Labs are a truly special part of life.
