E-mail we received from Bill Yox (one of the OutdoorGuys):

"TJ and Dylan Sharpe, and Sterling, Violet and Emil Yox took their Dads, Pete and Bill, out for a fishing trip on Veteran's Day out on Irondequoit Bay with Searcher Charters. Captain Chas Townsend, along with his first mate Joe, were ready to roll by the time we got there, and we had a beautiful fall day, even though it was early November. The sun was burning off any residual effects of the night before, and those leaves were falling off the trees on shore. Temps in the fifties fishing in November isn't too hard to take either. So, we set off in two foot of water hoping to find depth!

"Soon Capt. Chas found the depth... and structure, he was looking for, and we started catching fish...fast! It only took a couple of minutes for Capt. Chas and Joe to show the kids how to do it, and the kids had no problems. I don't recall which kid caught the first one, but they all got in on the act, and soon Capt. Chas and Joe were busy, as were Pete and Bill, with rebaiting hooks, taking pics and putting nice sized perch into the cooler. The Sharpe boys were hauling in doubles from the front of the boat, while the Yox kids were pulling them in from both sides of the boat. And speaking of the boat, a very cool party-boat style, you know, a platform with those pontoons. It made it sooo steady and smooth. Now I don't know much about boats but this one had a heated area, let's see, a galley maybe? Regardless of what you call it, it was so darned comfortable, and we had plenty of room. The engine was quiet, the ride was nice, I'm telling ya, even the bait seemed comfortable. That bait didn't stay too comfortable for long though. Those perch were big, and hungry!

"The Sharpe boys had to leave early, due to an unexpected work commitment, but they sure did catch some fish and have fun. After they left, Emil, the youngest Yox, caught himself his very first northern pike. To say that he was excited was surely an understatement! Afterward he kept talking about it, marvelling at his luck and good fortune. In fact, he mentioned it as a prefix to pretty much every sentence he said after that. The only way he could stop was when he up and caught his second ever northern! I'll tell you what, that kid was happy.

"The only negative of the whole trip was, of course, having to drop the Sharpe boys off early. I'm pretty sure we will all be back fishing with Searcher Charters again really soon. I cannot wait, and it wouldn't matter to me what temperature it was, as the fishing will be hot, and the atmosphere just right. Thanks to Captain Chas Townsend of Searcher Charters. Call him and book a charter for big table-fare perch at 589-6412. You cannot go wrong. Be sure to tell him the OutdoorGuys sent ya!

"The OutdoorGuys, Pete Sharpe and Bill Yox, are on the air live at 5 am every Saturday morning on newsradio 1180 WHAM."

Our comment...What's it really all about? Well, maybe a picture is worth a thousand words, but Bill Yox and Pete Sharpe tell the riveting tale about how it was for them and their kids on their recent trip. This is better than just photos alone.

Late November Pics from Capt. Chas...Karen and Chet Coby had lots of action and have lots of fish fries to look forward to:

E-mail Capt. Chas received on 12-2-07..."Captain Chas, Just a quick note to tell you much fun we had on BOTH perch fishing trips we booked this year.  You are most certainly a wonderful host and made our experience the highlight of my fall season.  Please convey to First Mate "Joe" that we enjoy his company to the utmost and his sense of humor is second to none.  (it must be the Amish in him…….)  I will be in touch.  All of the crew is already talking about going next fall.  By the way, I have had two meals from our catches and boy, they're delicious...Gary Brown & perch fishing crew"
