Info from the Fishing Bitches, they found steelhead on the 29 line strait out from the Oak. Hot colors off the boards and riggers from 30 up to 10.
Saturday, May 4, 2013
Sorry I have not posted lately but I was out of the country last weekend had to visit my Dad early last week, then we received our pen salmon on Wednesday and then I was fishing up west and did not get home early enough to get info from the guys "At the Oak". So here we go with what I have. The word is the daily east wind has pushed in clear water and the only fish available are Lake trout but here are a lot of them, I have heard of large numbers of them being caught any where from 70-150 FOW east and west. As for Kings and browns I have heard very little success targeting these species.
Monday, April 22, 2013
The last 2 days have been great; plenty of browns east and west with good water all along the shore line. Sunday the best board baits were fire tigers; today Black and silver rap's both J9 and straits and cotton Cordell's. The best rigger bait continues to be the DW SS Mixed Veggies UV. There is also Lakers out in 60-70 on the bottom out front and an occasional king in 100 down 50-60. But the brown fishing is the best bet right now.
Saturday, April 20, 2013
Only one thing to say; will someone stop the wind. Buc-A-Roo, Rally Killer and I all had trips today and spent the day at the dock. Buc-A-Roo tried to fish when it calmed down a little at about 8:00 and caught a nice Coho on the set up but was soon forced off the lake by the increasing winds. Tomorrow looks like we will fish but the water conditions and color look iffy.
Pen Rearing update due to some issues the Steelhead were all stocked directly into the river and we are still waiting for word on the delivery of the Salmon.
Thursday, April 18, 2013
Been off all week heading out tomorrow. We hope!!!
Sunday, April 14, 2013
We started further west at Johnson's and went further west during the course of the day to just past Shadagee. Had a good pic all morning mostly browns. The water was mud in close but we were able to find a good edge at times in 11-13 Fow. All Browns with some nice ones over 10 along with our first king. Fire tigers off the boards in Thunder stick JR"S and Renowski's the same spoon as yesterday off the riggers, the DW SS Mixed Veggies UV 5 down 50 back.
Saturday, April 13, 2013
It started for me today, we made it out after the terrible blow we had yesterday. We went west and Buc-a-roo went east. It started slow for both of us, cold water and allot of mud. The last time I talked to them they had started to pick up some bites by the flats. We trolled for 3 hours before we got our first bite; Us and the "Fishing Bitch" boys found a little spot just past Green Harbor that had some good water and held fish. We picked all browns but the "Bitch" boys had a nice king on they lost 10 feet from the boat. Its tough to get them in with the small hooks on a stick bait. Our best was on the riggers the DW SS Mixed Veggies UV was the trick 5 down 50 back. We also had some board bites with hot Orange colored stick baits.

I would like to thank everyone for showing up and helping put the pens together last Saturday I under stand it was a beautiful day to get it done. I would especially like to thank Mark Lewis (Devonian) for his help in coordinating the event in my absence he did a great job. I will be sending out the fish delivery dates as soon as they are firmed up.

Monday, August 27, 2012Cold water continues to be the main effect on the inside water with some salmon still being taken in the 40-50 foot range but it is not the bonanza we had at this time last week. Offshore has been producing good numbers of steelhead with mixed year class kings any where from the 30-35 lines strait out.
Friday, August 24, 2012The last 2 days have been a replica of Wednesday.
Wednesday, August 22, 2012Hate to sound like memorx tape but when it comes to salmon fishing I guess that it can be good. Today was just like yesterday with more big kings moving in.
Tuesday, August 21, 2012The inside water has stabilize with good temperature and the mature kings are moving in for their final staging before their run up the river. Hot baits are Spin doctor white green dot and black dots with A-Tom-Mik Pro/Am glow shreds, Crinkle green lives and Jean sleeps behind them. Divers from 120-140 riggers from 60-70 over 70-100 fow from the wall to the glass house.
Monday, August 20, 2012The inside water has started to stabilize with good temperature and the mature kings are moving in for their final staging before their run up the river. Hot baits are Spin doctor white green dot and black dots with A-Tom-Mik Pro/Am glow shreds, Crinkle green lives and Jean sleeps behind them. Divers from 160-200 riggers from 60-80 over 80-100 fow from the wall to the glass house.
Thursday, August 16, 2012Heard there was a brown bite in 60-80 with some salmon mixed in but little else about it. The bite got started a little earlier finally. The best was 28-29 line the bait was still very heavy but when you got north of it things started happening. Hot baits are White and Silver Spin-doctor green dots with A-Tom-Mik green crinkle lives, Silver 42/42's and Green Gator/Gators. Spoons include DW gators and Mag Gators, Orange crushes and Streak 42 second spoons . Riggers from 60-90 divers from 140-260. There still is a lot of good water out there.
Wednesday, August 15, 2012It has been a late bite most of last 5 days. There is fish from 140 fow to the 29 line along with more schools of bait than we have ever seen. The best bite has been after 9:00 o'clock. Hot baits are White and Silver Spin-doctor green dots with A-Tom-Mik green crinkle lives, Gold 42/42's, Big white paddles with meat have taken their fair share. Twinkie green, Goldilocks and White black dot Revelator's are also working well with A-Tom-Mik Jean Sleeps behind them. Spoons include DW gators, Orange crushes and Streak 42 second spoons. Riggers from 60-90 divers from 120-260. There is a lot of good water out there we are marking fish from 60-120 along with the bait.
Saturday, August 11, 2012Been on vacation for the last 3 days will update you tomorrow.
Wednesday, August 8, 2012Sorry stayed at the cottage for a few days was away from my computer. Fish at 140, fish at 25-26 line fish from 30-33. At times this season there has been a lot of good water with fish spread through out it. I have never seen the water so green in the lake. Hot baits continue to be DW gold 42 mags, DR. K's, Gold 42's, Stingray Ghosts, Spin Doctor with A-Tom-Mik Gator/Gator's, 42/42 golds, Death Wish with utra purple glows, Silver green Dots with Crush Icicles. Rigger's from 60-110 divers from 200-280.
Sunday, August 5, 2012As predicted the rain came and the winds blew, by noon it was 4-6's at the 26. The early bite at the 26 was smoking, rigger's with DW Mag Gold 42's down 85, Stingray Circus Freaks at 55 and 65 did their fair share of the work along with Spin-Doctor Death Wishes and A-Tom-Mik Ultra Purple Glows at 180 and Gold 42/42's at 200 on the divers. The was also an on fire bite for browns in 50 FOW, DW Gold 42 mags, DW Gold 42's and Stingray Green Nukes.
Friday, August 3, 2012There was a good brown bite in 60 to 65 fow but I did not find out what baits were working. There were also fish scattered from the 26 line all the way to the 31 and from the 8 to the 16. A lot of 3 year old's with some matures mixed in, along with good steelhead. Riggers were working from 50-100 divers from 120-240. Hot spoons were DW gold 42 mags and Dr. K's and Stinger ghost's and purple clowns. Spinners were gold 42/42's, Death wish's with A-Tom-Mik ultra purple glows and Spin-doctor white on whites with A-Tom-Mik Pro/Am glows.
Thursday, August 2, 2012I wish I had allot of changes to report but the only difference we have been seeing is where the fish are. Today they were from 26-27 and the baits and lure depths have remained the same as the last week.
Tuesday, July 31, 2012The fish have been from the 28 to the 32 the last few days, lots of big kings to go around for everyone. I don't want to cut it short but the baits have been pretty must the same since Sunday.
Sunday, July 29, 2012Sorry again but I have been very busy this weekend between fishing every day and selling my 31, plus getting it cleaned up for the new owner. I have had little time for much else. But here is the weekend rap up. There had been fish from the 24 to the 33 but in the end it is now a typical mid summer off shore bite with Steelhead and immature salmon at the 28-30 and mature kings from 31-33. Riggers from 60-80 with DW DR. K's and Gold 42's along with Stingray ghosts. Divers from 180 to 220 with Spin-doctor death wishes and A-Tom-Mik Miage glow's and Ultra purple glows along with gold 42/42's early and Gator/Gators and Silver green dots with Gator flies later in the morning.
Thursday, July 26, 2012Sorry I am late but it was a very busy day for me today. Most fished from the 23.5-25 fishing was a little slower than the past few days but we all did manage to get our fish. Mostly a mix of kings and steelhead. Riggers from 50-90 Divers from 180-220. Hot Spoons DW Dr. K's and Stingray Purple clowns, hot spinners Death-wish spin-doctors with A-Tom-Mik Ultra Glow Purples. I was a cloudy day so purple seemed to be the color of the day.
Tuesday, July 24, 2012Each day can be such a change, it was rough but with a forecast of the seas calming a number of boats headed out. The inside report was not as good as yesterday the best bite seemed to be between 24-26 north and 9-17 west. Most boats stopped there because it was just north of a break and the water got ruff at that level so venturing to the 29 line did not look like an option. Well the word was it panned out for most. A very good king bite with a few steelhead mixed in for good measure and as the morning went on it did calm enough for good troll both east and west. Riggers were hot with DW Dr K's at 50 and 60 and Stinger Mag Gold Ghosts at 70. Divers went early with Gold 42/42's at 260 then 220 later, Death-wish Spin-doctors with A-Tom-Mik Stevens flies at 180 and later Gator/Gator's at the same spot.
Monday, July 23, 2012I received a number of good reports. A few Captains took a chance and fished the cold water inside 57 degrees on the surface and were rewarded for their efforts with some big kings in 40-50 fow. Others choose to work the break at the 26 line and also found some cooperative fish and still others went to the most stable water 29 and deeper and found mature kings at that level. The only issue we have right now is where are all the steelhead that were around before the big blow last week. A few are being caught but not like it was previously, kings seem to be the order of the day which is not a bad thing but a few good steelhead do bring a little excitement to the day. We fished the 30-31 line and the best info I have is from there. Divers at 260 with Spin-doctor Green Gators with A-Tom-Mik Gators(L202's) and Green Hammers, Silver green dots with the same fly, along with DW Silver 42 second spoons and Stingray Ghosts at 60, 70 and 80 on the riggers.
Saturday, July 21, 2012A crazy day the warm water was rushing back in as fast as you can imagine, if you were on fish it did not last long because when you went back to that spot every thing had changed. the most consistent was 29 and north where the water was the most stable. Riggers from 45-80, divers from 180 to 240. Hot spoons were Sting Ray Ghosts, DW Yellow gators and Spin-doctor 72 Monties and Silver Green dots along with Revelator Twinke greens.
Friday, July 20, 2012Nobody fished yesterday and I doubt anyone is out today with NE winds gusting to 25 at the buoy and wave heights of 5 feet (which we believe is actually 10 from crest to through). That being said I would not be surprised if when we do get out hopefully tomorrow that we find some cold, clear water on the inside and maybe even fog. The best thing to do then is go north till the water begins to warm, but please be safe if you don't have radar to get through the fog safely and a boat properly outfitted for offshore fishing wait for a better day to take advantage of our great salmon fishery.
Tuesday, July 17, 2012The Strong SW wind made it very difficult to fish any where but 150 fow and under though to our surprise the temp was 50 degrees 80 down over 100 fow. Most caught kings of all year classes lure selection, rigger and diver depths remained pretty constant as it has the past few days. I did hear that if you went to the 25 line it did get fairly sporty with waves up to 6-7.
Monday, July 16, 2012The inside bite was slower today from the info I received, thought there were still some big kings taken there. The best bite for numbers of fish seemed to be from the 26-27 line, 10-18. DW Mag gators on 400 coppers and the deep rigger, along with Dr K's and Rodny's on the higher ones any where from 40-70. Diver's with Spin-Doctor Silver green dots and A-Tom-Mik Pro/Am Glow Shreds toke a number of fish out 180 and 200.
Sunday, July 15, 2012The only difference between yesterday and today is that the kings moved in to 120-125. Besides that it was a carbon copy of yesterday.
Saturday, July 14, 2012The kings moved out a little today the best was in 140-150 east and west, hot baits were Gold 42/42's early and spin-doctor White Green dots and Silver Green dots later with a number of different flies behind them which seemed to be the ticket on the divers at 160-200. Riggers with DW Dr K's and Stinger Ghosts from 50-70 were also working well. There was a good mixed bite of Steelhead and kings at the 27 line for those who wanted venture off shore a little to get away from the traffic.
Friday, July 13, 2012All I can say is this, fishing is very good; Kings in 70 to 300 with steelhead past 200. I have talked to a number of Captains and Rec's and its run your favorite baits and have fun. Good Luck everyone
Tuesday, July 10, 2012Fishing remains very good Kings and Steelhead are still the main catch. Gold 42/42's are still working very well at 180 and 200 on the divers, along with the 72 Monty's and Twinkie green. DW Mag Gators on 400 coppers and the deep rigger at 70 are taking some big kings along with Stinger Stingray Ghosts. DW Kevorkian's are filling out the set at 50 and 60.
Sunday, July 8, 2012Today had a great start, big kings on divers were doing well at 180 and 200 for the first few hours. Gold 42/42's seemed to be the best but twinkie green did its fair share of damage. Then it slowed for a little while and then picked back up with DW Mag gators on 400 coppers and the deep rigger at 75-80 taking their some big kings along with Stinger Stingray purple clowns at 50 and 60 working well for Steelhead and Salmon.
Saturday, July 7, 2012Today's report is and exact duplicate of yesterdays. Fishing is very good!!!
Friday, July 6, 2012The fishing is very good right now with the 25 line being the best for today, that from what reports I heard from the Captains I talked to. Riggers from 50-80 Divers from 180-250. Some hot baits were DW Purple Thunders and Gold 42's early the it turned to Stinger Stingray Green Dots, Nukes and Purple Clowns. The best spinners were Death wish spin-doctors with A-Tom-Mik Stevens Flies early, Silver Green Dots with Gator flies and Revelator Twinkie Greens later.
Thursday, July 5, 2012Have not fished since Tuesday but a number of charters did and the word had been the same 26-28N, 14-8W, 50-100 down divers 180-260 (sounds like a lot of good water!)Kings, Coho's and Steelhead. DW Gators, Stinger Hog Wild's and Nukes, DW Hologram Dolphins along with Silver Green-dot Spin Doctors with Gator A-Tom-Mik flies behind them and Twinkie greens on the divers and deep rigger
This is a subject we have discussed in the past I will bring it up again, plainer boards with coppers, since this has become a hot topic I called my insurance agent to discuss this issue. Bottom line, you are responsible for the equipment you run on your vessel. The same as if you were driving down the road and something fell off your car or out of your boat and caused damage to the the car behind you would be responsible for the damage to that vehicle. So if you are going to run coppers on boards don't expect the other boat to give way to you, protect your own equipment and move it!
Monday, July 2, 2012What do we know, first there is a lot of bait in the inside water, and the current under 150 fow is very difficult to adjust to, you can have a great day in there or catch nothing. So today we moved off shore back to more stable water and the most consistent water we have found over the past week which is at the 28 line. There are Kings, Coho's and Steelhead to be had at that level. The best were riggers from 60-80 and divers at 180 and 200. Hot baits were DW Hologram Dolphins and Silver Glow Nose/Glow Green along with Silver Green-dot Spin Doctors with Gator A-Tom-Mik flies behind them both on the divers and deep rigger.
Saturday, June 30, 2012From Capt. Tom and Mate Jeff on Wharf Rat. The 28N and 14W was best for them riggers 40-75 and divers 180 to 200. Best spoon was Mixed Veggies and the 42/42 spinner and fly on the divers was their best mostly Steelhead with a few kings in the mix.
Friday, June 29, 2012The best bite continued to be from the 26 line to the 28 north and from 8 to the 14 west with a good, mix of kings and steelhead. Riggers from 60-90 divers from 180 to 240 and 400 coppers. Hot spoons DW Mag gators deep and on the copper, orange crushes and the lucky spoons on the higher riggers. Divers were best with silver 42/42 spin-doctors and A-Tom-Mik flies and innovator/dew spin-doctors with A-Tom-Mik gator flies behind them (which is the L202 Green Crinkle Live).
Thursday, June 28, 2012Well the NW wind did it s job and pushed warm water in tight. The best was 25.5 to 26 as far as 28 out front. Mostly Steelhead with some kings mixed in. Riggers from 50-90 divers 240-280, silver orange and DW Mag Green Gators were the best.
Wednesday, June 27, 2012The wind continued to blow and the lake continued to rock. Only heard of one boat going out today and that was from the DEC Survey vessel. They told me that that group fished around 400 feet and had a few Salmon and a few steelhead no other info was available. Hopping we get out tomorrow it does look promising.
Tuesday, June 26, 2012It was not a better day with a continued angry lake
Monday, June 25, 2012NW wind 15-25 waves 4-6 no one ventured out hoping for a better day tomorrow!
Saturday, June 23, 2012To make it short today was pretty much a carbon copy of yesterday.
Friday , June 22, 2012Sorry we are late but had to take the wife out for dinner. Fishing is very good, 100-150 east to the Glass House west to Johnson's. Riggers 50-90 divers 250-270 were the best. Kings all year classes, Steelhead and browns. Hot baits DW Green Gators, Fire Crackers and Stinger Stingray Green Dots. Small Dog Spin-Doctors with A-Tom-MIk purple Mirages and Gold 42 42's early, 72 Monty Spin Doctors with A-Tom-Mik Crushed Icicles and Innovators with Pro/Am's later in the day.
Wednesday , June 20, 2012Summer is here and thank God for the breeze on the lake. A number of boats out today, most fished from the ladders to the glass house any where from 100 to 200. Steelhead came 60-70 on the riggers on DW green gators, Salmon came early on Gold 42 Spin-doctors with A-Tom-Mik Gold 42 flies and Little dogs with A-Tom-Mik purple mirages behind them at 180 and 200 and later at 300 on Spin-doctor Innovators with A-Tom-Mik Pro/AM's. Also the 72 Monty with Crushed Ice worked well at 100 for a number of kings on the center rigger.
Monday, June 18, 2012Received a report from Jim Gommenginger who fished in front of the flats 150 to 200 ft of water. He had a nice mixed bag box of Kings, Steelhead and a Brown. All of his bites came on spoons with green in them. No info on lure depths was sent.
Sunday, June 17, 2012Well my tournament season is over so now its down to the businesses of fishing. I will be posting reports on a more consistent interval since all of my fishing will now be out of the Oak.
First thing I would like to pass along is that the hot fly this year so far has been the A-Tom-Mik Blue hammer glow, it has been the bait of choice for a number of the big winners in both American and Canadian events so far this year.
I talked to the Buc-A-Roo early this morning and he was in 85 fow working on a mixed bag of fish, I also heard from Irish Thunder who had worked the 27 line with great success on a box of Kings and Steelhead.
Wednesday, June 13, 2012I received some late info from Capt. Mark Lewis of Devonian, he had a nice evening with the family strait out in 150 fow. He fished the top 60 feet and had a nice catch of Coho,s and Steelhead. Did not get any specifics on baits.
Monday, June 11, 2012I am sure everyone knows by now the results of the Orleans Tournament event and boy the quality of the fishing improved drastically over the days of the event. By Sunday there were big kings in numbers right out in front of the harbor in 150-180 fow. As everyone knows one of the Oaks long time charter captains Clarence Crisp of Rally Killer cashed in with s great trophy box catch of 5 big salmon that weighed over 100lbs which gave him day two's biggest trophy box and the overall trophy box for the event. Congratulations to him and all of the winners of this years event.
I have a request does anyone know who was on the Crazy Ivan Team I need the captain to contact me please send me an email at reelxite@rochester.rr.com.
Now for today's report from Free Spirit, he had a good day with a mixed box of King's Coho's and Steelhead. He fished strait out to the 25-26 lines, riggers from 50-70, divers from 180-200. Ghost's and NBK's on the riggers and 72 Monties and Wonder bread Spin-doctors on the divers he did not tell me what flies were behind them.
Wendsday, June 6, 2012All the lakers you want from the ladders to the glass house in 75-85 fow but most are on the small side. They are biting almost anything.
Don't forget the annual Condor Tournament will be held this Friday June 8th the day before the Orleans Pro/Am event. The cost is $100 Cash per boat, entries can be made at Captains Cove Resort, Narby's, Lake Breeze Marina and 4C's Marina until 7AM Friday morning. It is a 100% pay back event, number of places determined by number of entrants. You do not need to leave the harbor at Oak Orchard to fish the event. You must be inline at the weigh-in by 3PM on the 8th at the tournament weigh-in sight under the Parkway bridges. Prizes distributed will be at the Friday night Captain's meeting. This event is open to anyone who would like to fish it.
Tuesday, June 5, 2012There were a few charters out today Buc-A-roo and Lucky were the ones we talked to. At last report Capt. Ron was on a north troll out to the 31 line he had some nice steelhead and laker's in the box that was at 10:30. Lucky Captain Jack chose to stay a little closer to home and had a good day on browns in 20 fow. We did not get any lures but it does sound like there is some opportunity out there.
Monday, June 4, 2012Finally home, returned from Wilson and May fishing out west last night and its good to be here. I am ready to get back to fishing here and providing reports to help all those who visit the Oak Orchard area. Just to remind everyone the annual Condor Tournament will be held this Friday June 8th the day before the Orleans Pro/Am event.
Fishing report: we had cold water move in from the NE blow Friday and I will assume little has changed today with the continued NE. I will let everyone know as soon as I get a report.
Friday, May 25, 2012First I would like to thank everyone who helped with the pen rearing program this year. I know it got tedious with the length of time that it took to complete, with the hatchery issues and weather we had, but we got it done. As far as fishing goes we are in what we call transition that is when the lake goes from spring thermal bar fishing to summer thermal Cline fishing. This can be a trying time of the year since there is a lot of good temp water out there for the fish to be in. You can be on them one day and the next day at the same spot there will be nothing. It will soon end and our good summer condition's will prevail. So your best bet right now is pick and spot and go for it.
Sunday, May 13, 2012From PigPen, West from Green Harbor to Shadagee. 140-180 Fow good mixed of fish they were only missing the Brown for a Super Slam. Riggers from 30-75 down divers out 220. Hot baits were Black Magic and 42 second Spin Doctors.
Friday, May 11, 2012I received some info from Tom and Tom of "Catchin Hell" they had a good bite with kings, coho's and steelhead from the harbor to Johnson's in 120-140. No mention of lures or sets but at least it gives everyone a place to start in the morning.
Thursday, May 10, 2012As everyone knows this time of the year I am fishing out of Wilson in Niagara county, so unless I get info from those that are fishing at the Oak I have little to report. When I do get some info I will report it. So feel free to send me a report at reexite@rochester.rr.com and I will be happy to post it.
Saturday, May 5, 2012Got a little info from the Fishin Bitches and Bag Lady. A little slower today most catches were lake trout heavy. Best was west of the harbor in 80-120 FOW no lures mentioned. Remember I am not at the Oak right now so I must count on the info I receive from the captains that are there.
Thursday, May 3, 2012The Fishin Bitches fished 130-150 FOW, off Green harbor. They caught a good mix of fish, kings, coho's, lakers and an Atlantic. Most of their bites came of the riggers 30 to 60 down, very little diver action. No spoon colors mentioned.
Sunday, April 29, 2012Sorry about the lack of reports this past week but Monday-Wednesday were blow offs and we left a the KOL in Canada on Thursday and did not get back till today. Fishing was great with allot of kings caught by all the competitors. The info I received from the guys still at the Oak through the weekend was the same; great catches of kings. Here are some baits that are hot right now; Spoons DW SS fire crackers, DW Silver Green Glow mags, spin doctor silver green dots with 42'second A-Tom-Mik flies and Blue Silver/Glow with Blue Hammer Live A-Tom-Mik flies
Sunday, April 22, 2012The beach is still holding browns with coho's and lakers mixed in. Salmo and Reel Excitement fished the same water the Park to past green harbor one in the morning and one in the afternoon with simalar results. Silver and black cotton cordells on the boards and miller 7's off the riggers 5X50 continue to provide good hookups.
Saturday, April 21,2012The brown's fired back up again today. Johnson's and west, Salmo, Buc-A-Roo and Reel Excitement all did well on them in 8-10 FOW. Hot baits again were black and silvers on the boards with the Cotton Cordell's being the best along with #11 raps. On the riggers Miller 7's were doing it 5X50.
We will not be getting our Salmon for the pens on Monday there was a change in schedule from the DEC. Looks like Tuesday or Wednesday is now the target I will let everyone know as soon as I do.
Friday, April 20,2012Just got in at 7:45, 50-60 FOW Green Harbor and west, still holding Lakers, mixed with kings, steelhead and coho's. Riggers 20,30 and 40, mono slide divers out 100 and 90. All spoons silver green glow, green gators and get r' dun's
Thursday, April 19,2012The only info I have received was from Capt. Ron of Buc-A-Roo. No lures mentioned but the bite continues to be 50-60 fow out front and west. Also We will be getting our Salmon Between 12:00 and 12:30 Monday April 23 at Lake breeze Marina looking forward to seeing everyone there.
Tuesday, April 17,2012I got a little bit of info today from Chris Sheridan, who first mated for Buc-A-Roo. Best was 50-60 FOW from Johnson's to Green Harbor, this spot keeps producing Kings mixed in with Lakers. No lures mentioned.
Sunday, April 15,2012We did not fish today but did get a report from Capt. Mick from Get-Hooked. He fished from 80-100 FOW pump house to the park. They had a great day on Kings for April. Riggers 30-50 and divers 120-140, hot spoons were; Gold Spooks, Mag Gold 42's and Super Slim Death Wish, Spinner's were White with green dot Spin Doctors with A-Tom-Mik Blue Hammer fly.
Saturday, April 14,2012Another great day to be fishing, the water color was clearing fast, but those that got an early start were able to get their share of browns. The best water was from Johnson's to Green harbor. Hot baits were black and silver Rapala's in 9 and 11 sizes and for me miller 7's off the riggers 5 by 50. Later in the day most of the charter captains moved off the beach to the 50-60 foot of water range which was loaded with Lakers with some Kings mixed in. One sure thing about this time of the year when fishing for browns, as the water color disappears, the smaller boats can have an advantage and much better action. Most boats the last few days got their fair share of fish on the beach but guys like the "Fishing Bitches" with their smaller quieter boat really put a hurting on the browns with phenomenal numbers of fish even in clear water. Just shows bigger is not always better in all situations.
Friday , April 13,2012Short report I am late for dinner. Most fished east from the flats to Bald Eagle. All got browns with a few kings mixed in hot color on the boards was black silver and yeck candy corns were doing it off the riggers 5 by 50. Tomorrow should be another great day.
Thursday , April 12,2012The lake has calmed down and looks good for the next few days. The boys from the Fishing Bitch are in town and they had a great afternoon. They fished from Johnson's to Green Harbor and caught fish all the way. They told me that any color was working off the boards with #9 Raps and Thunder stick JR's, but their riggers were slow. Hope tomorrow is just as good, I have a double tomorrow I will do my best to get a timely report in
Sunday, April 8,2012
Happy Easter
Looks like our good weather may be over for a few days but the good thing is they are predicting a lot of westerly winds this week. There is a possibility that this could push kings in good numbers our way.
We will be getting our Steelhead for the pens on Tuesday about 1:00 PM we will need help, we hope be getting our Salmon early next week.
Saturday, April 7,2012
Great day weather wise 1 footers out of the west/north west. Water temps in 44-46 range along the shoreline and the browns were hungry. Charters out Reel Excitement, Intimidator, Buc-A-Roo and Free Spirit along with a number of rec boats. Fish were caught all the way from Johnson's to Troutburg; hot spots were the flats and the bluffs off Lake Side State Park. Lots of browns many up in the over 10 pound range with a few kings, lake trout and steelhead mixed in. Fishing was best right on the edge of the mud line in 10-12 fow. Black and silver Raps, Cotton Cordell's and Thunder stick jr's were best off the boards and small yeck candy corns 50 back 5 down on the riggers were working well.
Saturday, March 31,2012
I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for showing up today on such short notice and in such adverse conditions to help put our pens together. It was a great turnout, it shows how many people believe in our program. I will be contacting the DEC early Monday morning to try to get a commitment on when we will be getting our fish. Again thanks to everyone for you help.
Sunday, March 25, 2012
For those of you willing to help with our pen rearing program we will be putting the pens together on April 7th at Lake Breeze Marina 8:00AM, bring your side cutters and a smile. This is one of the first rights of spring "at the oak". Also the brown fishing has be great when we have good color, it blew NE for last two days plenty of color there now, it should be good for the next few days at least, if you have the time to get out.
Tuesday, Sept 6, 2011
We would like to thank everyone who contributed this season, and we wish everyone a safe and short off season. See you all next year
Tuesday, Sept 6, 2011
We did not fish today due to weather, the one man tournament was rescheduled for Sept. 13th.
Monday, Sept. 5, 2011
Weekend round up I was doing doubles the last few days and did not have time to get to my computer. Most have continued to fish inside for mature kings. The fishing has been very good, with Spin doctors and flies and Flashers with meat as the primary baits. Depending on the days and water conditions the fish have been as shallow as 50 fow and as deep as 120 fow.
And for those that did not know Sunrise II had an officially weighed Salmon on Saturday of 41 lbs and 15 onces, unfortunately his guys were not in the LOC derby. As far as we know the only over forty pounders caught this year were both at the Oak and neither group was registered in the derby in progress at that time costly mistakes.
Results of the Johnny V Tournament
First Warf Rat 107.14
Second Yankee Troller 103.6
Third Snow Pirate 93.14
Fourth Maverick 87.8
Fifth Sunrise II 86.47
Big fish Yankee Yroller 33.22 lbs

Well the day after the big blow and to our surprise it did nothing to change the lake. In 70 fow it was 46 degrees down 60 ft and 71 on the top. At the 28 line it was 73 on the top and 48 down 85. There were fish caught from 65 fow to the 28 line. Hot baits were DW Glow nosed melons, Orange crushes, silver oranges, Mag Silver green glows and Stinger Stingray Mag ghosts. Riggers from 35-55 in shallow and 55-85 out deep. Divers worked at 200-220 with little dogs and 72monties. The mature Salmon have been moving in all day and if things don't change I would expect it to get even better tomorrow.
Sunday, August 28, 2011
Monday will be a very interesting day. The waves were coming over the wall like It was just a small rock in the way it was mother nature giving us a show. I am sure we will find fish today but were is anyones guess. Let you know tomorrow.
Friday, August 26, 2011
From Capt. Bob Eder of "Shotgun". Fished 29.5-30.5 n x 14-16 w today, 42nd Spin Doctor & fly at 181 on the wire, smooth pirate 55 Udder spoon at 191 on the other wire. Moon shine Carbon 14, NK28 frog and black and silver raspberry glow pirate 55. Riggers at 51', 61' were the best. We caught Steelhead and Kings mixed.
Thursday, August 25, 2011
Sorry due to the storms I had no computer to write my report before I left in the morning. We had a very good inside king and brown bite early with cold water down 85 feet over 100 but that all disappeared late morning with the NW wind. It is now 74 degrees down 130 feet and the salmon have moved. Very little info about the off shore bite since most fished inside. I have little confidence to fish inside Friday and I do believe due to the conditions most of the captains will fish mid-waters to off shore.
Tuesday, August 23, 2011
Even though warm water moved in their was still a Salmon and brown bite in the inside waters for some, but most moved off to the 25-27 lines as the day moved on. Fish were coming 75-110 down on the riggers and divers out 240-330. The hottest spoons were DW and Stingray ghosts both regulars and mags both silver and gold. Hot spinners were small dogs, Spin doctor green nukes with Atommik green hammers, white on whites with pro/am flies.
Monday, August 22, 2011
Sorry, I was unable to get to a computer the last few days. Things change fast the water got cooler inside and the kings made an appearance in 100-130 fow range from the point to the glass house. Most of our winners from the Saturday tournament were lucky enough to check this water out and found the kings ready and willing to bite; they also were there on Sunday. There still is an off-shore bite and although kings were hard to come by on Saturday in this water they were very plentiful come Sunday. The best spots off-shore were from 29-31 north and 10-16 west. With the hard NW blow today it will be interesting to see what Tuesday brings.
Saturdays Results
1st Yankee Pride
2nd Maverick
3rd Free Spirit
4th Hot Line
5th Yankee Troller
6th Hideout
Friday, August 19, 2011
29-31 by 10-20 continues to be the place to be. Kings and Steelhead just like August should be. Riggers from 50-90 divers from 160 to 240, 400-500 coppers. DW black magic, gold 42's and Stingray ghosts on the riggers early, DW glow nose melons and green nukes later. Spinners were Monties, 42/42 golds and green nukes on the divers with big dogs on the coppers.
Thurdays, August 18, 2011
The off-shore bite continues to be good but it did move in a little yesterday to 29-32. Most of the same baits from yesterday were still working.
Wensday, August 17, 2011
The off-shore bite is the main game in town. Even though a few did find the mid water to be productive. There were some kings and steelhead taken on 26-27 lines the best being meat on 500 coppers but the most consistent bite was 32-34. Riggers 40-70 with DW Glow nose melons, Green and yellow gators along with Tommy Tapes and Stinger Stingray Green Nukes. Divers on #3 out 125 with Silver 42/42's and mono Slide divers Back 20 out 120 on #2 with DW Hologram green Dolphins.

This will be a 100 percent payback tournament paying 25 percent of the field.
Now for today; Scattered mid water picture and action with a few fish caught but the offshore bite seemed to be the ticket. But it was way off shore 36-37 and it was a steelhead bite. Riggers were working from 40-75 down with Kevorkian's, Yellow gators and metallic frogs. 10 color lead cores with DW metallic frogs and gold melons. Mono Slide Divers with DW hologram dolphins 30 by 120 and 140 wire divers with 42/42's.
Sunday, August 14, 2011
It was a very interesting day, with the treat of thunders storms midday most were a little cautious on where they fished. But a few made big moves that payed off. Capt. Tom Hynes of Wharf Rat charters and Butch Cooley of Pisces head north tom the 35 line and filed their coolers early with kings and steelhead. The rest fished from 24-27 and 11-17 with some good mature kings steelhead and even a few browns. Riggers were working from 60-90 down and divers 200-240 400 and 500 coppers. Hot rigger baits Gold 42, Gold ghosts and NBK's, divers were Gold 42/42's, White on white purple mirage and Twinkie greens. Meat behind white flashers on the 500's and 400's were a hot ticket for big kings the last few days.
Saturday, August 13, 2011
Sorry I was unable to post a report yesterday but I had a double and was unable to get to a computer. The best the last 2 days has been from the 27-29, from 14-9. The bite has been a little deeper due to the NW winds the two previous days. Temp has been down 95-100 at the 27 but does come up as you move north. Today Tracker had a good bite high 75-50 on the riggers with DW purple nukes, Gold 42's and Kevorkian's but his divers were not working. Irish Thunder had a good diver and copper bite divers 220-240 and 400 coppers but his riggers were not working. Hot diver baits Silver 42/42's and yellow gators with TG hammers. Looks like we may be in for some rain the next few days but the winds are supposed to be lite.
Thursday, August 11, 2011
Wind, wind and more wind the last 2 days have been horrendous, only a few boats even attempted to go out today and they turned around at the break wall. One did try to go out but when his client hit his head on the hard top that ended the trip. The one thing I do know is that one captain did go out latter in the day and checked temp and with 120 foot of cable out it was still 71 degrees at the probe; looks like off shore will be the ticket when it calms down
Monday, August 8, 2011
The warm water came rushing back in and provided for some great early morning kings in 120-130 fow but the bite turned to all skippers by 7:30. If you were on them early you got them, when it was over it was time to move. The the next hot bite was 34.5 north from 10-4 west. There were all classes of kings with big steelhead. The bite there came from 45-70 on the riggers, divers out 200-220 and 400 coppers. Hot spoons early were gold 42's and Ghosts, Yellow gators later. Divers with Gold 42/42's and Death Wishes with Atommik Stevens flies. Our old stand by Big Dogs continue to do damage on the 400 coppers.
Sunday, August 7, 2011
The lake was still cold in shore and most fished 29 or deeper where the water was more stable. But the talk of the day was of the 41lb 12 once Salmon caught by Capt. Paul Czarnecki of "Free Spirit";(that was the weight on a registered scale at Captains Cove). The fish was caught on a DW Green eyed ghost. We expected this to happen with the reports of a number of mid 30's fish caught earlier in the year. The unfortunate thing about this is that his clients were not registered in the Orleans County Derby. Don't let this happen to you, when can get a one day reduced price entry to the derby and have a chance of catching a winning big fish. I do have a photo of this fish and will try to get it posted soon.
Saturday, August 6, 2011
The lake has done a hard flip with cold clear water on the beach. Most ran at least to the 27 line and fished north. A few were lucky and landed on and got a few kings early but most had to hunt for them to find a few. So it was mostly a steelhead bite for everyone. Because of the high cold temps spoon s were the primary bait of the day. Riggers 35-55, Mono slid divers 100-120 30 back. Hot baits were DW gold 42's, half and half's and yellow gators along with Stinger ghosts.
Now the winners of yesterdays Drew,s Crew event
First: Buc-a-roo
Second: Sunrise II
Third: Screamin Reels
The crew of the event would like to thank everyone who participated in making it a success again this year
Thursday, August 4, 2011
The east wind blew in cold water on the inside. In front of the wall did hold some nice kings in 50-60 fow for a little while but that ended by 9:00am. The best spot after that was the 27 line from 11-15. Down riggers from 40-60 and divers at 120 and 140. 10 color lead cores were were also doing well. Hot baits on the riggers were DW yellow gators in Mag and regular size. Divers were working with 42/42 spin doctors. Just to let everyone know, the charity tournament on Saturday is open to all ports but you must weigh in at Lake Breeze Marina in Point Breeze. They have also changed the weigh in time on the event on the 20th to 2-4PM at 4c's Marine.
Tuesday, August 2, 2011
I hate to sound like a broken record so I will just say this; the fishing today was as good as yesterday so you should have been here both days and the report is the same. We are getting some big kings and it looks like its getting better as we move in to August. So I would like to announce the next up coming tournament.
Saturday August 20th will be the date. You must be entered by 7am Saturday morning. Entry fee is $100 cash ONLY and entries will be accepted at Lake Breeze Marina, 4 C's Marina, Narbys and Captains Cove.
You may fish this tournament OUT OF ANY PORT ON THE LAKE. The only requirement is that you enter at one of the 4 locations listed above and you present your 3 fish for weigh in at 4C's Marina between 1 and 3 PM on Saturday. The weigh in closes at 3 PM SHARP.....NO EXCEPTIONS!
And remember you can only bring 3 fish to the weigh-in:
This will be a 100 percent payback tournament paying 25 percent of the field.
Monday, August 1, 2011
The inside water has produced a few matures the last few days but it is a very short bite that has been over by 8:00am. The more consistent bite has been the mid waters from 25-27 from 10-15. Riggers from 45-80 with DW gold 42's, Half and half's and Stinger Ghosts in both Mags and Stingrays early and DW Yellow gators later in the day. Divers with Silver 42/42's Spin doctors and green nukes with Atommik Green hammers at 180 and 200. Also the stand by Big Dogs on the 400 copper keep on producing day in and day out.
