Labs Shed A Lot...They shed moderately all year long, more so as the seasons change. Dog hair can be everywhere, including rugs, furniture, clothes, etc...“Home is where dog hair sticks to everything except the dog.”
Labs Are People Dogs...If you have allergies to dog hair, dander or saliva, you will probably have problems with a Lab. It's not fair to get a puppy, then find out you have allergies, and have to tie the dog up outside away from the family for the majority of its life...they will not be happy living that way. Think of what is best for the dog.
Labs Are Not Clean... If you are a neat freak, you will not like a Labrador...they dig holes in your yard, they track in mud, they shed, they chew on things, they rub up against and leave marks on your walls and they can clear off the coffee table with one wag of the tail.
Labs Need A Lot Of Exercise...Labradors are active dogs and need an outlet for their energy every day. That means when it is raining, when it's snowing, on days you work late, when you are not feeling good...your Lab will still want to go for a run, a walk, play ball or go swimming. If you do not provide an outlet for his pent-up energy....he will find one!
Labs Stay Puppies For A Long Time...You may think, 'great'...I love puppies. Well, only their minds stay puppies...their bodies get big! Labs remain clumsy, hard-headed, goofy and immature for a long time. Most don't mature until they are two to three years old.
Labs May Play Rough With Kids...Labs are usually good around children, but a puppy will naturally bite and chew on clothing, shoes, hands, etc...those sharp puppy teeth can hurt a child without the puppy knowing it. Also, a Lab puppy is a big puppy and can easily knock down a toddler while playing.
