Chamois' Page
A New Beginning

September, 2005...Hi, I'm Chamois, a very happy little Labrador Retriever. I was born on June 21, 2005 and came to live with my humans on the shore of Lake Ontario when I was six weeks old. I think I'm going to love the lake, but I haven't been down there yet. I know I like water...in my bowl and in puddles, but I'm sure I'll like the lake even better. My humans say that I'm a quick learner...I know my name, I understand what ‘no’ means (even though I pretend I don't) and I know how to bark when I need to go out, but sometimes I can't wait and just bark and then squat real quick, before my humans can get to me. Usually, my humans are fun to play with, but for some reason they don't want to play my mouthing games...they call it biting. Anyway, I sure like it here.
November 2005...I'm almost five months old now and weigh over 40 pounds. Being a puppy is fun...here's my typical day:
6:00 AM: out to pee, then it's some playtime
7:00 AM: eating, out to pee and poop, some more playing, then I take a nap
10:00 AM: out to pee, taking a walk or playing and then a nap
1:00 PM: eating, out to pee and poop, a long walk, then another nap
7:00 PM: eating, out to pee and poop, playing inside a while, then maybe a nap
11:00 PM: out to pee, then it's time to sleep
For the last week or so, my humans have been calling me “Bad Boy"...they say I get into trouble when I play in the house. I discovered that they've been keeping lots of ‘toys' up on tables, shelves and countertops...two of my favorite ‘new toys' are the TV remote and the cordless phone, I also found some newspaper and magazines to shred.
March 2006...Nothing much new, except I'm getting bigger and I've learned to walk nicely on a leash (most of the time). I'm still having fun finding ‘new toys' to play with. In fact, I have another new name ...“Chamois Drop It." I love being a Lab!
June 21, 2006...Happy Birthday to me...one year old and lovin' it.
December 25, 2006...The Christmas Season has been a frustrating time for me. My humans put a tree in the living room, covered it with lights, colorful balls and other shinny stuff, but for some reason, they don't want me to go near it...they won't even leave me alone in that room. The same thing happened last year, but I wasn't as intrigued by it then. Now the good part...they got me lots of new toys to play with instead.
March 1, 2007...Wow, after a warm start, we're now having a wonderful winter. Last month we got lots of snow, including some big drifts for me to play in...love it!
Summer 2007...Life is fun - there are so many things to do. My humans call me a scavenger because I love to pick up things I find outside...branches, driftwood, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, etc. I call myself an environmentalist because I want to clean up all the debris I find along the road and down by the lake. I'm proud of my accomplishments, especially the stuff I drag back and try to bring into the house.
