About Us
We're Joe and Shirley...a couple of retired Charter Captains living on the shore of Lake Ontario a short distance from the mouth of the Oak.
We fished the Finger Lakes for many of the first years of our marriage (1966)...before that, one of us was a fisherman, the other was a sailboater. In the late '60s we began our salmon fishing in Lake Michigan and it's tribs...Bear Creek, the Manistee and the Muskegon. In the mid '70s it got hot here and we moved our Sea Ray to the Oak. In the mid '80s we built our home here. In 1995 we retired from Chartering,..still fishing a few of those Finger Lakes. We've had our share of trout and salmon...the rest are yours. However, because the super Lake Ontario fishery is on our doorstep, it's too difficult to sever our ties with it.
We admit that some of our primary enjoyment comes from doing what little we can to promote our fishery (it is world class) and especially to give anglers, from near or far, at least a starting point. Some areas we do pride ourselves on are the frequency of our reports, impartiality on Charters and lures, and above all, "tell it like it is" credibility.
For those who might be curious...we have not made a penny from our web pages, nor do we wish to.
We know most of the Charter Captains here and as you know by now, we believe they're the cream of the crop....they have the expertise and confidence to share and send their clients home happy. As you also know, every port has their "cream of the crop" Captains and the premier fishery of the Great Lakes has been proven to be our own Lake Ontario.
Our own prediction for the future is: the king will be "king"...steelies, bows, cohos, browns, lakers and atlantics will be bonus fish.
